Series 3&4 of Grange Hill! I've even started watching it, which, when you see the number of unwatched DVDs on our units, is quite impressive! Now I'm just waiting for CSI 7.2 to come down in price a bit before I buy that.

The last DVD I bought was "Bones" series one. Got it for £11 (including p&p) from eBay. It's a brilliant show.

Bodyline. An Australian mini-series about the controversial tactics employed by the England cricket team (bowling at the batsman's body rather than the stumps) during the 1933 Ashes tour of Australia. I first saw this when I was at school and it left a big impression on me, and now all these years later I've finally managed to pick it up on DVD (albeit from Oz; something this anti-English would never be released in Blighty! ).

It's brilliant anyway. Anyone with an interest in the history of cricket and/or how the British Empire was perceived overseas really could do a lot worse than stumping up the £11 or so for it from here.

You know it makes sense :sus:

I think the last dvd I bought was 'The inbetweeners'. I watched the first 2 episodes of the show when it was on TV but ended up missing the rest, anyway I liked what I saw of it (was a bit unsure at first as thought it was going to be another Skins which I just don't like) but I did like this show, The main Character reminded me a little bit of Adrian Mole.

I remember watching that it was really good. I'm not an avid fan (where is he these days come to think of it  ) of cricket, but, I found the series facinating. My No1 memory of it was the reporter chap not having enough money to send the telegram he wanted in full so changed "line of the body" to "bodyline". I remember thinking the English team were cheating buggers. Not cricket at all I say.

I should have any day now "Puckoon" :D Not because the film stars Sean Hughes :whome: . I really am a fan of Spike Milligan and his work. Honest.

Incidently, I watched UK Gold's "When Were We The Funiest" (1970's comedy edition) There was a clip from Spikes Q 3/4/5, whichever it was, and the "What are we going to do now?" ending. Drove me mad at the time because my brothers used to keep saying it in unison over and over again. :x I do/did actually find Spike quite funny though.

You remember it well, Mrs M! :D It being an Aussie production, they did take certain liberties with the truth as to regards quite how "dastardly" the English were, but for the most part it's an accurate description of what happened. (after watching the DVDs I went and had a scout round the internet to find out exactly how things happened in reality. England actually won that Ashes series 4-1, by the way, so it's no wonder the Aussies were so sour  )

Now, most recent DVD. I'm on a bit of a South Park kick at the moment, so the last DVDs I bought were Series 2 & 3 of that. I'm planning to go through all the series chronologically, as (not having satellite or cable) there's still loads of these I've not yet seen. Great series. Just my sort of comedy!

Bought 'The Visit' from play.com. I hadn't even seen the series despite meaning to when it was screened on TV so when I ordered it purely because I'd read a review about it and knew John Henshaw who also starred in Early doors was in it, I decided to take the chance and order it.
Anyway arrived yesterday and so far watched 2 episodes and don't regret ordering it one bit. :D
The character John Henshaw plays in it reminds me a bit of the character he played in Early Doors too & I almost thought it was the same woman playing his Mother in it too. Can't wait to watch the rest of it.

The last television DVD I purchased was 'Chiefs', a 1982 mini-series starring Charlton Heston and Keith Carradine.
I also recently bought 'Roots' and took a Sunday out to watch it in it's entirety, and it's still brilliant.

Sad to hear about the death of Isaac Hayes who played Chef in South Park the other day. He converted to scientology in recent years , hence his walking out on South Park due to their mocking of the wacky religion. Who is laughing now though? He converted just in time so has no doubt gone up to that space ship they all came from or whatever it is they believe.

Hayes' co star in the film he was making was comedian Bernie Mac who died the day before he did.

The most recent DVD I bought was series 2 of 'The smoking room'. Loved this show but guess they can't do any more series now unless they changed the title to 'The smoking shelter'.

They wrapped up The Smoking Room very nicely at the end of series 2. Mrs Head and myself love this show. We like seeing the actors in other shows and saying "oh look its..... from The Smoking Room."

Minder series 5. I've been making my way through the Dennis Waterman years of Minder over the past year or so and this completes the set. The last series he did was actually 7 but I've been watching them in a haphazard fashion (I saw series 7 months ago) so 5 will be my last. Confused? You should be

It's a complete extravagance, but I found there was a complete Jacques Demy collection available on Amazon France, with English Subtitles on all his movies, many not previously released, so I stumped up the money on the basis that it might disappear without trace.
