What are you watching?

What tv programmes are you watching at the moment? Is there something you never miss?

For me at the moment it's 30 Rock, NCIS and Law and Order: SVU.

30 Rock is really living up to the good things I'd heard about it. I don't know what I can say about it other than that it's really funny, and we're only half way through the first series!

I'm also watching series 5 of McLeod's Daughters on DVD. Stevie is my favourite character and I'm pleased to see that perfect couple Tess and punchable Nick seem to be about to move to South america - hooray!

Watched the last couple of episodes of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip the other day and I don't know whether they knew they were being cancelled or not, but it seemed to wrap everything up fairly neatly, considering it was the end of the first (and only) series! It's a shame there weren't more series of it really, as there were interesting and underused characters there.

Soon I'll be watching all the things I've recorded over Christmas

At the moment, we've just reached the point where all the series I've been following have ended! Robin Hood bowed out just now, and it's the last of Lead Balloon...

New Year, new progs, I guess - Primeval on ITV was quite fun, Jam and Jeruaalem was watchable - sort of in the Vivienne Vyle category - and the new Doctor Who Series isn't too far off now. Torchywood (can't resist the extra Y) was something I liked less and less, but maybe I'll be tempted.

Oh and if we stretch to listening - there's a new series of the excellent Count Arthur Strong Radio show on Fridays that's highly recommended.

The Extras special was my undoubted TV highlight of the Christmas week. Andy's anti-celebrity culture speech in the Big Brother house and apology to Maggie had me welling up! Some great moments of comedy in the show too (which is always handy in a comedy  ), especially the Carphone Warehouse stuff! All in all a superb finale to another great Ricky Gervais project. Can't wait to watch it again. (if only I'd videoed it!)

As you say, Extras was great, easily the best thing over Christmas, though I've still a couple of things to work through.

I seem to recall Extras is repeated tonight, when I was running through the EPG earlier.

Well apparently on the 10th Januray at 9pm on ItV, there is a new drama starting on ITV called 'Echo Beach', starring Gwyneth Powell (dear old Mrs McClusky, as we all know and love her), as the pub landlady, so I might see what thats like.

Haven't had time to watch anything new on tv for ages.
Come and get yourself a tea or coffee and some biscuits-but quick before Anita eats them all!!

Besides loads of comedy DVDs not much, but I am planning to watch a documenary on Channel 4 this evening. '1983:The brink of Apocalypse'. About how a series of accidents nearly unleashed World War III in November 1983, when one of the most dangerous moments in the history of the cold war occurred. Which I'm guessing was the inspiration behind Threads.

Is that the one with Jason Donovan in as well? I might give it a look and see if it's any cop.

Last night I stumbled across a Comedy Lab thing on Channel 4 called Swizzcall, a spoof on those terrible late night quiz phone in shows (has anyone noticed that Ch5 have stopped doing theirs and are putting on 80s films instead?). It was deadly accurate and pretty funny.
I enjoyed it infinitely more than glorified clip show 1000 Best Catchphrases Evarrrrr! on Ch4 the previous night, which was sponsored by Grolsch, ironically bearing the tagline "sponsoring original comedy".

Echo Beach :D I love any programme featuring Cornwall.

I love Cornwall. Would be living there still if a certain G.I.T. hadn't gazumpted me for my pretty pink cottage 10 years ago :( By 50 grand! The sweet little place had been on the market for 18 months without any interest until I wanted it too

Doh! I missed it. I wonder if it's repeated any time?

I love Cornwall too. I've seen the house I want on a tiny road down to a tiny beach just along the coast from St Agnes. :D

That's rotten luck about the gazumping. Should be outlawed, that.

Later today I will be enjoying the new series of Harry Hill's TV Burp. There are few programmes I enjoy more!

Also I'll be watching the episodes of Animal Park that I missed. Why do they have to cram a whole series into one week?!

We're now half way through the second series of Jam and Jerusalem and I'm really enjoying it. It's way better than the first series and the last episode shown was the funniest so far with several laugh out loud moments. For me it's improving all the time and hitting the spot with the comedy more often than the first series whilst not losing any of the pathos that lingers around it. The way it's dealt with the subject of bereavement has been superb, in my view.

Trial and Retribution. I like these. Hard, edgy and dark.
