I was put off Survivors by the previews. I'd prefer to remember the original.

I have Sky1 back so I've been indulging in Stargate SGI and Stargate Atlantis :D I just lurve me Sci Fi. 8)

I did watch the first episode of the new Survivors with an open mind, but I doubt I'll be watching another one. I didn't like it at all. The music was intrusive, there was absolutely no variety in the age of people who survived and it was far too cheerful! I'll stick with the desperately bleak original series, thanks!

I've also been watching shedloads of Prisoner: Cell Block H. I'm up to about episode 62 and I'm not sure there's been a scene so far which hasn't involved someone wearing a polo neck jumper! That's the 70s for you!

I watched Wallander on BBC1 on Sunday night. It was beautifully shot and I loved the music. I think it's just about my pace and I rather enjoyed it. I hope the other two stories in the series can live up to the opener (and maybe some of the supporting police officers will get a bit of personality in those!).

I've enjoyed Survivors and loved the fact they killed Freema Agymang (Martha Jones in Dr Who) in the opening ep.

I found out my PCBH vid's have been hit with mold in the celler so I've lost the Channel 5 recorded eps. I have the first 32 on DVD and I'm hoping more will be released over here. It must be around 62 where Antonia McNally comes and goes.

Might be an idea to put spoilers in white font Heady, just in case anyone intending to catch up with Survivors mkII hasn't done so yet. Like Sutti says, though, anyone planning to seek the new Survivors out would be a lot better served forking out for the DVDs of the original, classic series!

Have I Got News For You, The IT Crowd and Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe are the series I'm most enjoying at the mo. Thank gawd for decent comedy on these cold winter nights.

At this very moment, Wallender.

It's growing on me. It's quite a slow burner I find.

I'm also watching the repeats of The Last Detective :D and Apparitions.

Apparitions is quite creepy :? I do like creepy though.

Not watched much of the IT Crowd but I'm with you on the other two Hughes my man! Did you watch any of the childrens episode Charlie did the other day with with his appearance on Toonatik, the clips of that demented extremely low budget Christian children's puppet show and the tribute to Oliver Postgate it was some show?! Top stuff.

Loads of Chrimbo stuff to watch this week and next. Saw the QI tonight which was great. Looking forward to the "F" series.

Final ep of Survivors tomorrow night, which means I have to catch up on last weeks. Saved it for a two hour home made special.

I've been catching up on Heroes lately as well to clear some space on my Free View Recorder. Just 12 and 13 to watch and I'm up to date.

You really need to get The IT Crowd on DVD Mr S - it's inspired! The first two series are pretty cheap to buy now too. About £4.99 each I think.

The children's TV special edition of Screenwipe was indeed top stuff. Bloody hell, that Christian puppet show was absolutely terrifying! Possibly the most sinister thing I've seen on the box since whenever it was that Jimmy Savile last popped up! The Screenwife (as all the hip kids are calling it. Well, me and Sutti) end of year programme is on Christmas Eve too, just in case you didn't know

Actually I've watched loads of BBC4 these past couple of days: a couple of excellent programmes about the comedy record (that's the genre, rather than one record in particular); an Ian Hislop documentary about Dr Beeching's culling of squillions of branch railway lines in the sixties; and a spooky drama (the name of which escapes me for the moment) written by Mark Gatiss about a ghostly bride with a grudge! BBC4 really is head and shoulders above all the other channels at the minute, for me.

Certainly was. I caught up with it online earlier on the BBC QI Player.

How great was BBC1 last night? Doctor Who, Wallace & Gromit, The Royle Family, Blackadder Rides Again. What a line-up! I think that was my favourite ever episode of The Royle Family actually. Tom Courtenay and Helen Fraser are fantastic additions to the cast. I didn't even miss our Antony for a second!

Yes, Kenny Branagh is a close personal chum  I enjoyed the Wallander series very much. Quite moving at times. And I particularly enjoyed the BBC1 continuity announcer who said over the end credits of one episode, "And you can see the next episode of Wallander (he pronounced it Woll-un-der) at the same time next week. Now on BBC4, 'Who Is Wallander?' (pronounced Voll-and-er) an exploration of the character."

As for Christmas telly, I laughed all the way through A Matter Of Loaf And Death and The Royle Family. Both were absolutely top notch. Good work, Auntie Beeb!

I really enjoyed The Royal Family Christmas special (well what I saw of it since I got interupted that night by my Mum going into hospital & having to put my brother up at mine for the night, tsk, thoughtless family   ). Tried watching it again on the iplayer but 20 minutes into it it stopped working on me  , oh well, I watched most of it & thoroughly enjoyed it and after finding out it'll be released onto dvd on 26th January decided to wait until then when I can guarantee I'll be able to watch it all the way through uninterupted. Hopefully they'll include some good extras on it too. :D

Loved the Michael Palin Around the World Twenty Years On thing on BBC1 last night. Anything that can be equal parts educational, funny and poignant, has to be a good thing, right?

Too right! Those barstewards should be taken outside and shot!

I must say the BBC have really delivered the goods this Christmas, with some truly memorable programmes. I suppose a churl might point out that they've repeated these new seasonal specials far too often (in prime time slots too!) and often only a day or two after they first went out. Isn't that what the iPlayer was designed for? :? Oh, and there have been too many nights where there's been nothing at all of interest on. But still, the BBC have easily had the pick of the best progs this Christmas so fair play to them!
