I just wanted to tell everyone, after having had the most horrendous last two weeks, I received a phone call today telling me I'd won (bought a few raffle tickets last week) a HUGE Christmas cake

I had a few hick ups signing up too. I think I would have done better last night after a few glasses of wine. I checked my emails late last night and thought I'd better register today when the screen wasn't swirling so much.

Aw, glad to hear you had some luck..Christmas cake is a great cure-all I think

(I had cravings for the stuff when I was pregnant the first time...luckily I was pregnant over Christmas...wouldn't have been much use craving it in the summer )

I don't know...all these people signing up with the wrong name (I notice Hughesy hasn't mentioned that he accidentally signed up with the wrong name when he first got here, too. Wonder why that is? )

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that went AWOL for a while, sounds like eveyone's been having a hectic time recently. I'll be glad when January the 3rd arrives and things at least go back to normal at work. I am more than looking forward to two whole days away from trains next week though!!

I think my luck was well and truely up for good when I won the cake.

I decided not to look in on SE untill I'd finished my Christmas wrapping last night. I started at 18.30, finished at 2.35 this morning. I then managed to get tangled in the flex of my lamp (fitted with a with a naked daylight bulb) pulled the lamp over, burnt my arm with the hot bulb and ruined yet another bulb

Today I met up with an old friend and we went into town for a coffee. He's one of these people who I can just pick up with where we left off. Given that I last spent time with him properly when we were about 10, we had a surprisingly mature conversation!

I thought you might like to see the cake I won

It's so lovely I don't want to cut it It has pearlised icing and the fringe around the top is made of icing! I thought it was material when I first opened the box. The bells and the Santa are edible too! It's oval shaped and 12 inches by 10inches. It's the biggest christmas cake I've ever had! I usually only make/buy a small one. I'm well pleased as if you couldn't tell.

Tonight I'm working on finishing up all those bits and pieces of food that are nearing their use-by dates. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!
