That's just disusting!

He didn't do or say anything really...he just put his hand up to his nose and looked surprised, then some blokes behind dragged him away and told him not very politely to clear off. He was very drunk...he probably woke up today with no recollection of what happened...wouldn't surprise me if he barely remembers he was even at a concert last night...silly drunken man.
I didn't hit him that hard...I've never punched anyone in my life before so I wasn't very good at it...it was a token effort really, made me feel better at the time but I still shouldn't have done it really...

Well, Maria, if anyone was ever asking for a smack in the chops it was him, so fair play to you. I must admit I cheered when I read that you'd punched him!

Anyway, blimey, they really ought to rename that place the Milton Keynes Toilet Bowl now

EDIT: scrap that last bit, it was Bristol wasn't it? Don't know where I got Milton Keynes from

Made me laugh too.

I've only been to Milton Keynes Bowl once to see Bruce Springsteen, not a great fan of his but I went with some mates who were. It can be a mistake that, when they talk about getting to the concert 2 hours early to get to the front and waiting around the hotel to see him afterwards:? I wanted to experience my first open air concert though and, thankfully, not everyone wanted to stalk out The Boss.

It was one of the best gigs I've been to and the weather was good, not too hot and no rain.

The following week a work collegue went to see Bon Jovi at the Bowl and it became a mud bath. To say it rained would be an understatement. I was really lucky!

Good for you, Maria! :yessir:
What an absolute tosser that bloke was! He clearly deserved a bop on the nose.

A friend of mine was at the Bon Jovi concert in Twickenham tonight. No doubt I'll hear all about it tomorrow!

Yesterday I accidentally found myself the proud owner of someone else's old telly. We were just wandering round the park chatting about her new telly and I remarked that I'd have to look for a new one myself soon, since my old one still works but has no scart sockets and isn't compatible with all the other equipment. The next thing I knew, she was phoning her husband to tell him not to drop their old telly off at a charity shop and they brought it round to my house a few hours later  Talk about right place, right time! And it's the first tv I've ever owned which has Ceefax! Cool! 8)

They only have a few concerts a year at the Bowl - but it's also the place for the Sunday Car Boot. By coincidence, yesterday there was a concert, the first of the year and it's no wonder if there's lots of deaf people around, since I could hear it from home, with windows shut, and that's over 3.5 miles away!

For a few months I worked at an office which was on the opposite side of the road to the Bowl, and when the bands practised it was very hard to get any work done!

I should have been there! I had a ticket...it was Linkin Park and various other bands. But I decided I couldn't really justify the expense and the childcare issues of 2 trips away in one week, and I saw Linkin Park in January, so my ticket went on Ebay and my friends went without me :(

Incidentally, we've just had 2 concerts at Plymouth Argyle's ground this weekend...On Friday night I could hear Meatloaf from my home, which is probably a good couple of miles from the stadium ...thankfully I didn't hear anything of Westlife on Saturday though

Edit: I should probably have started a new thread for all this music stuff instead of taking over the off-topic thread...sorry...but it did start off being fairly off-topic with the wee related stuff!

It seems a shame this thread has lapsed, as it's always good value.

Is £333 too much to pay for a new pair of glasses, by the way?

The old visually challenged tax is quite a rip off isn't it?

Last year I needed the lenses changed in my "best" pair of lenses (kept the original frames and didn't need a prescripsion change) because the anti glare finish had warn off in parts. The lenses alone cost me £185.00  I also had another 30 days disposable contacts (I'm quite economical with those, 30 days supply usually last me a year or more  ) so payed a few p short of £300.00 with the eye test and all. :(

What really annoyed me, after the shock at the cost of the replacement lenses for my glasses, I bought them from Boots and was expecting a big load of advantage points (4 points for each pound spent :D ) and only received 18 points! The majority of the eye wear is classed as medicines so you don't get advantage points! FIX

I think £333.00 is about average for designer glasses (with lenses an' all) me Mam's were £305 and they have no frames

I have a stupid fancy prescription so my lenses were even more expensive than yours at £252. (although at least mine were actually a prescription change ). I didn't even get designer frames or nuffink. The eye test fee, plus the tenner for photos of my retinas that Vision Express do on some new-fangled machine now (which saves the optician having to shine those annoying lights in your eyes like some sort of Nazi interrogator) took the price up near the £300 mark, and then the frames accounted for the rest.

That was a complete rip-off what Boots did to you over those advantage points. Perhaps they should rename them Disadvantage Points? I had a similar gripe in that my glasses from the "one-hour opticians" actually took three weeks before they were ready. Swizz! Well worth the wait though as, like Bill Withers, I can see clearly now. The rain has gone.

Still though, bloody expensive as you say. And my opticians wonder why I don't always come back on time for my 2-yearly appointment? I'd soon go bankrupt! (I actually waited 5 years this time   )

Are you complaining?

I'm annoyed because after being given assurances by Farse-ley Celtic that our (Gateshead) match would be on it was then postponed at 2pm after the team and 60 odd supporters arrived when it was clearly frozen in the morning at 9:45pm.

Their excuse: "We didn't have a pitch inspection this morning." We called up and they said they had and if they didn't WHY didn't they? It really annoys me. I was 30 miles away but the rest of our fans travelled 90 miles there and face another 90 going home for £15 on a coach for nothing but a darts match and some overpriced drink in their bar.

Does anyone else find Frankie Boyle the most annoying comedian at the minute? I watched his DVD and gave up after 20 minutes because all his material was exactly the same as the stuff he's said on Mock the Week! He was on Live at the Apollo on Saturday night and again it was all the same stuff.

Not only is his material exactly the same (ala Peter Kay) but he laughs at his own jokes. It's like he's saying: "Ha ha ha I'm so funny laugh and give me money you c*nts!"

P*ss off back to Scotland and only come back for Mock the Week where Russell Howard is funnier than you!

I think I agree with you on most of that.

I do find Frankie Boyle and a few other comedians irritating especially on progs like Mock The Week. Mostly because they can only be "funny" when they are insulting people, others on the show, celebrities, or polititians. I know sometimes there will be a story in the news about someone just begging to have a gag made about it, but, I feel they go too far.

I can't stand the David Mitchell like jumping in with a stupid jube like a train without a break while another comedian is doing their turn in progs like 8/10 cats either.

Jimmy Carr is a turn off too. He reminds me of one of those people who think they are funny because they can commit to memory every joke they have every heard and then feel it nessessary to spout them out one after the other like a bad case of Norovirus.

It's a pity the prog makers don't give some other comedians a turn instead of having the same usual suspects. Better still, just have a stand up show with 15 minute turns. After all. a lot of the "high profile" comedians seem to only have about 15 mins material :?
