The last film you saw

Film buff heaven! A place to discuss the world of movies.

The Constant Gardener. Not exactly what you'd call enjoyable, but definitely engrossing and a real eye-opener. No 'Hollywood' ending here either!

According to my Mum and Dad the film was all action and no plot. They're still unsure of the plot now. Haven't seen either of the last two Bond films. Used to watch them all the time but Mrs. Head isn't really a fan.

Yes, there was a lot of action. As for the plot... it is very simple... Bond tracks down organisation responsible for the death of Vesper Lynd (Casino Royale). It seems that the new organisation the 'Quantum' Organisation are like SPECTRE... lurking in the background.

I rather like that idea. It's a shame they had to give the organisation's name away.

All we need now is the chap with the white cat!

Alice Adams. 1935 romantic drama starring Katharine Hepburn as a social climber from a working class background who desperately wants to become part of the social whirl with the town's poshos. Very much of its era, this film - at one point Ms Hepburn actually refers to black people as "darkies"!

28 Days Later. A good film let down by some truly risible accents (hello Brendan Gleeson, the actress playing his daughter and Christopher Eccleston!). Also I think the film lost the plot a bit with all the army camp stuff at the end. I'll give it a 7.

The Head wrote:Kiss The Girls with Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd. Continuing my James Paterson novel reading (onto a 3rd book now in as many months, some sort of record for me!) I thought I'd watch the first of his books to be made into a film (although this is the second of his Alex Cross novels, and the first was made as a sequel...??).

Not the best of films but worth while if you like the genre. Along Came A Spider was much better though.

Along Came A Spider. Luckily it followed Greys Anatomy and I recorded it remembering your nod in this thread. Yes it was a good one. :D

I liked Kiss The Girls too (saw it a few years ago) this and Sci Fi is my kinda stuff.

On the day before Christmas eve, I watched White Christmas, followed by It's A Wonderful Life and I cried like a baby! Lovely films but only for this time of year.

I watched Scrooge, the Alastair Sim film, for the first time on Christmas eve and couldn't believe how hammy Michale Hordern was as Marley's ghost! Also I spent the rest of the day speaking in RADA cockernee, which involves peppering your sentences with the word 'perishing' and ending every one with either 'I'm sure' or 'and no mistake' - hours of fun!

Stone the crows! I've made this xmas a Castlemain XXXXmas and watched all three Crocodile Dundee movies!!

I loved the fish out of water humour of the first one and the way Mick outsmarts those drug dealers one by one in the second one through a series of Bush Tucker trials!! As for the third one, well the third one wasnt that good but the first two are ok!!

Strewth!!

Mamma Mia

Yes, a girls day and night in turned into someone thinking it was a good idea to share one of their Christmas pressies with us all :?

I managed to sleep through the first screening (not long into the film and awoke to see the last five minutes) alas, apparently the DVD jumped so we had a second screening. Fortunately, it jumped the second time too so we had the edited version again. It was new out of the wrapper so no doubt someone put their sticky fingers all over liberating it from the cellophane.

I do like Abba. In fact, I'd rather have listened to the CD and heard the correct lyrics not the slightly altered and badly sung versions fed into the "plot".

Had a nice nap though. :D

I watched Beowulf last night and it was very good. All CG (which I didn't know until it started) and it was pretty realistic.

8/10.

A film I urge people to watch is Planet Terror. A horror film made so it looks like an old cinema showing the film (they even went to the trouble of making mock trailers for other films which had us in stitches).

10/10.

Talking of subtitled films Apocalypto was my last watch. Worth seeing for the beautiful scenery alone and vivid colour in the temple scenes. I didn't find the supposed 'gory' scenes that bad. There was plenty of action too. I did find the end a tad disapointing though. Glad I watched it all the same.

My previous watch was Thunderbirds the live action movie.

Much to my delight it was rather good! I'd heard so many Anderson followers say it terrible, but, as Kids action adventure go, I thought it was good family viewing. Action, kids jokes, adult jokes and not too much smulch. I only registered one scene 10 on the cringe scale  One thing irritated me, the kids refering to themselves as 'The Thunderbirds' when any true Thunderbirds fan knows the personnell are 'International Rescue', the craft are 'Thunderbirds' :x :sus:
