The daily football quiz

It's good, but it's not right.

Postby Hughesy on Mon Jan 07, 2008 7:38 pm

Yes, well done Chris!

Another question tomorrow. (sadly I can't bring it forward to tonight as I'm not at home at the moment therefore don't have access to the magical calendar of questions!)

OK, here we go with today's question:

Which Premiership team didn't concede their first league goal of last season until they played Bolton on 25th September?

OK, time to get this thread moving again I think. The answer to the previous question was, umm.... Portsmouth!

Next question:

Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro was named the 2006 European Footballer of the Year. Who were the two runners-up?

Henry is one of the answers, but Ronaldo (neither of them!) isn't.

A clue: the other runner-up was Italian.

Nope!

I think I'd better put you all out of your misery on this one now. The answer I was looking for was the goalie Gianluigi Buffon. (I never realised he had a first name until now   )

Next question:

How many goals did England concede in their first three games under the stewardship of Steve McClaren?

It could and it is. Well done!

For the record, McClaren's opening three results were: Greece 4-0, Andorra 5-0 and Macedonia 1-0. After that, of course, his England managing career went much the same way as that of a ski jumper - downhill fast.

Brace yerselves, here comes the next question!

Which players scored Celtic's two goals against Manchester United in their opening group game of last season's Champions League?
