You may be wondering where my predictions were this week. The simple truth is – I forgot! Its not the only thing I forgot this week. At 5.20pm on Monday after a hard-days work I looked the holidays planner to check my weeks holiday next week was showing. It wasn’t – I was supposed to be off this week! Thankfully my boss (who was off on Monday) saw the funny side yesterday and agreed that I take my holidays in two weeks time instead.

Anyway the updated table:

Savage Sounds 72pts (6)
Hughesy 61pts (3)
The Head 58pts (11)
Maria 53pts (1)
StevieD 53pts (3)
ChrisR 48pts (0)
J + Z 43pts (0)
Franco 41pts (3)
So Old I’m in Monochrome 38pts (7)
Sutti’s Big Hair 37pts (2)
Toaster 33pts (0)

Its not all over yet though The Head is making a late run with a super weeks scoring and a few people could yet beat The Sounds with a few accurate predictions in the final "Super 10 Round" - provided you remember to post. :D

THE 13th AND FINAL ROUND - THE "SUPER TEN"

Well folks its come down to this - will Savage Sounds be crowned King of the (so far rather rainy) Summer? Will Hughsey reclaim the top spot he so fleetingly held a few weeks back? Will The Head complete the greatest comeback since Kevin Keegan and grab the glory? (in fact that'd make it a better comeback than King Kev's).

These fixtures will decide all:

Falkirk vs Rangers (SPL, Saturday 12.30pm)
Birmingham v Sheffield United (CCC, Saturday 12.45pm)
Hearts v Motherwell (SPL, Saturday 3pm)
Kilmarnock v Hibernian (SPL, Saturday 3pm)
Cardiff v Southampton (CCC, Saturday 3pm)
Charlton v Swansea (CCC, Saturday 3pm)
Derby v Doncaster (CCC, Saturday 3pm)
QPR v Barnsley (CCC, Saturday 3pm)
Celtic v St Mirren (SPL, Sunday 12.30pm)
Nottingham Forest v Reading (CCC, Sunday 1.15pm)

Best of luck everyone - may the best person win!

Ah well, at least you remembered to update here, which is the main thing!

By the way, with the summer competition reaching its exciting finale this weekend, we need to find someone to run the predictions league for the regular season, starting next week. It's quite a lot of work, as Chris, Mr Savage and Toaster (who stood in for me once if memory serves) will doubtless testify. I really don't mind who wants to volunteer as long as your maths is reasonable and you can commit to running it for the next 9+ months!

Actually it might be an idea to let Chris have first refusal as he's the man in possession, as it were. Fancy it Chris?

Help!

Franco has quite rightly corrected me that its QPR v Barnsley tomorrow & not QPR v Burnley as I incorrectly stated - must be a week for forgetfulness! My tired eyes must have picked up Burnley who showed on the line below (they are away to Sheff Wed)

As we are so close to kickoffs it is too late to chose another match the only proposal I can make is that the predictions already made for QPR v Burnley will stand for QPR v Barnsley - obviously anyone who wants to go back and amend their prediction based on the updated fixture is very welcome to do so - is that OK with everyone?

A big thank you to Franco for spotting this - Franco please add your prediction for QPR v Barnsley!

I apologise profusely for the inconvenience caused by this.

Re the new regular predictions season - I don't mind the idea of running it for a part of the season - but the thought of another nine months seems intimidating. What about say we run it on a monthly rota basis ie someone throughout August, someone else for Sept etc. That way it would remain fresh - any thoughts / takers?

In any case I won't be able to start the season as I may yet be away during my time off the week after next, and even if I have PC access my spare time will be at a premium.

Are QPR playing Barnsley this weekend by any chance?

I don't mind running the predictions league again this year. I see last year as a practice run! :D

I promise to do a better job this time round; with no basic observational and mathematical errors, months of going missing due to having a broken computer, drunken updates at christmas forgetting to include competitors, pioneering new and exciting ideas then having to ditch them when I lose everyone's predictions and rubbish jokes about the score_o_tron! Still, the bit at the end with the teletext page was good!

falkirk 0-2 rangers
birmingham 2-1 sheff utd
hearts 2-2 motherwell
kilmarnock 0-1 hibs
cardiff 3-1 southampton
charlton 2-0 swansea
derby 2-1 doncaster
qpr 2-0 burnley i mean barnsley arf
celtic 3-0 st mirren
notts forest 1-2 reading

Gosh the championship is hard to predict. Such an open league!

Thanks Hughesy.

It was a deliberate mistake but hopefully with the help of Chris "all is fine on the Preston Front". Just a good job it is not Preston playing Burnley hey  ?

I forgot last week to do it again - I keep forgetting because when you're not following football every week it slips your mind. Great to have the official season starting again.
