Predictions League 2008/09 Edition

It's good, but it's not right.

Predictions League 2008/09 Edition

Postby savage sounds on Thu Aug 14, 2008 8:28 pm

All across England groundsmen are making last minute preperations to the playing surfaces, managers are making last minute signings and preparing tactics for the weekend, owners are writing up lists of unrealistic targets while players phone their agents to sort out any pending contract issues that will lead to them squeezing even more money out of their employers! Thats right, the premiership is back! Its the most exciting league in the world that any one of two exciting teams can win! Here at score_o_tron hq we have been working just as hard to get things up and running:

Image[/img]

So with that,I declare the 2008/09 predictions league OPEN!

Saturday, 18 August 2008

Middlesbrough v Tottenham, 15:00
Sunderland v Liverpool, 17:30
West Ham v Wigan, 15:00

Sunday, 17 August 2008
Aston Villa v Man City, 15:00
Chelsea v Portsmouth, 13:30
Man Utd v Newcastle, 16:00

3 Points for a correct score, 1 for a correct result. Don't forget to highlight one prediction in red for double points!

Good luck to all players.

Great to have the league back! The opening week's games, however, are usually a bugger to predict, as you never know which teams have prepared best for the new season and which ones are still, metaphorically, on the beach! Anyway, I'll have a stab at:

Middlesbrough 2 Tottenham 2
Sunderland 0 Liverpool 1
West Ham 1 Wigan 2

Aston Villa 1 Man City 0
Chelsea 2 Portsmouth 1
Man Utd 2 Newcastle 0

Hooray! The predictions league for me is just like being a Spurs fan - you start the season full of hope that maybe, just maybe, this year you'll finally get your act together and show everyone what you're capable of, only to be crushed on the first day of the season! Here goes nothing!

Middlesbrough 1 Tottenham 2
Sunderland 1 Liverpool 3
West Ham 2 Wigan 2
Aston Villa 4 Man City 1
Chelsea 2 Portsmouth 0
Man Utd 1 Newcastle 0

I had a good Saturday, but a bad Sunday (prediction wise). Pretty pleased though overall.

A warm welcome to week one of the predictions league! Saturday was not a good day for me football wise, I did rubbish in all my predictions and saw my team get beat by Milton Keynes. Not fun. There were actually middle aged men there wearing Milton Keynes Dons shirts!!? Teenagers and children I can sort of understand but old guys? Who were they supporting 4 years ago!?

Anyway before this turns in to Savage Sounds lower league soccer blog, here is this week's table. Please PM me if I have made any mistakes, or even humiliate me in public!

THE HEAD 9
FRANCO 8
HUGHESY 8
MARIA 8
CHRIS R 4
