The daily football quiz

It's good, but it's not right.

 Correct!

Next question:

Which four players whose surnames begin with 'W' have captained England in post-war internationals?

Well I'll guess at Chris Waddle and Ray Wilkins being two. As for others I've no idea. I doubt Des Walker, Mark or Ian Wright or Chris Woods did. The only other I can think of is Dennis Wise but he didn't play enough for England to be captain.

Well you've correctly named two of the four I'm looking for - although one of them might surprise you, as Mark Wright actually did captain England! He took the armband for the game against the USSR on 21st May 1991. And Ray Wilkins won 10 caps as captain.

Two down, two to go

Asked my Dad this one and he suggested Billy Wright the Wolves player (apparently he was captain for years  ) and we tried to work out the other one. Got a bit silly then thought of Dave Watson who was Everton captain for the Everton FA Cup final and wondered if he had also captain England at some point? We looked him up actually and the Internet says he has

Billy Wright is, of course, absolutely Wri- right! As for Dave Watson, that's right - and wrong! There was another Dave Watson - also a centre back - who played 65 times for England in the 70s & early 80s, and it seems to be him that captained his country, rather than the later Everton model

Next question:

Which English football club play their home games at Kit Kat Crescent? (at half-time the ref doesn't blow his whistle, he just shouts "Have a break!" )

I'm going to put in a very hard question which is close to my heart to get this thread going again

Name four (just 4 will do) of the new signings Gateshead FC have made this summer.

A question on another forum is: "Can you name the five players who have died who once played in the Premiership."

I can name four...anyone care to guess on them and the mystery one :sus:

Blimey, this is a morbid one! Let's see.... Marc Vivien Foe, David Rocastle. They're the only ones who spring immediately to mind.

That's 2 of the 4 I know. There are two more I know and both played for West Ham at some point in their career.
