It's good, but it's not right.

Thanks Hughesy.

It was a deliberate mistake but hopefully with the help of Chris "all is fine on the Preston Front". Just a good job it is not Preston playing Burnley hey  ?

Franco

Ahh, now I understand Franco. In which case I've just gone back and changed my prediction of QPR 2 Burnley 0 to QPR 2 Barnsley 0!

I don't mind running the predictions league again this year. I see last year as a practice run! :D

I promise to do a better job this time round; with no basic observational and mathematical errors, months of going missing due to having a broken computer, drunken updates at christmas forgetting to include competitors, pioneering new and exciting ideas then having to ditch them when I lose everyone's predictions and rubbish jokes about the score_o_tron! Still, the bit at the end with the teletext page was good!

The job's yours then Mr Savage! With the one proviso that the rubbish jokes about the Score_o_tron simply must stay! Oh, and no leaving the weekly updates/posting the following week's games until about 12 hours before they're due to kick off!

I like your idea too, Chris, about having a different person running the league each month, but I think on balance it'll keep things simpler if we just have the one person running it for the duration of the season.

Well all good things must come to and end and the same applies to the Summer Predictions League:

FINAL ROUND RESULTS:

Falkirk 0-1 Rangers
Birmingham 1-0 Sheffield United
Hearts 3-2 Motherwell
Kilmarnock 1-0 Hibernian
Cardiff 2-1 Southampton
Charlton 2-0 Swansea
Derby 0-1 Doncaster
QPR 2-1 Barnsley
Celtic 1-0 St Mirren
Nottingham Forest 0-0 Reading

Which means the final table looks something like:

1. Savage Sounds 80pts - 8
2. The Head 68pts -10
3. Hughesy 67pts - 6
4. ChrisR 62pts - 14
5. Maria 61pts -8
5. StevieD 61pts - 8
7. J + Z 53pts - 10
8. Franco 49pts -8
9. Sutti’s Big Hair 45pts -7
10. So Old I’m in Monochrome 38pts - 0
11. Toaster 33pts - 0

And I hereby announce Savage Sounds as the 2008 Square Eyes Summer Football Predictions League Champion.

Here's a song dedicated to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sogKUx_q7ig

Fully deserved win Savage - you lead the table almost from the start and you were certainly the most consistent predictor throughout the season.

I apologise to everyone for the occasional muck-up I have made - in particular this weeks Barnsley/Burnley debacle - I think The Head is the only person whose score was adversely affected - thankfully it made no difference to the final result.

I hope everyone enjoyed the summer season, and that you'll all be back for the regular season which I believe will be starting shortly

Well played all!

Bravo Chris! Thanks for organising the league so well throughout the summer. I'll pencil your name in for running things again next summer if that's alright with you :D

I suppose I'd best offer grudging praise to Savage Sounds while I'm here. Well done SS - I suppose! No, fair play to you sir. A worthy winner! :D

If I had done my research, and noticed Barnsley hadn't won at QPR for 52 years (well 53 now) I might have said QPR would win after all. I got the score right, just the wrong way around.

Very happy with second though. Bring on the new SEPL.
