Your favourite albums

Postby Sutti's big hair on Sat Dec 29, 2007 6:51 pm

I got a couple of corkers for Christmas which may end up on my favourite albums list in time (Sofia Talvik's Street of Dreams and Jens Lekman's Night Falls Over Kortadela), but which albums are ones you always come back to? Which albums do you never get tired of?

For me Joni Mitchell's Clouds and Ladies Of The Canyon can't be bettered. There's not a weak song on either of them and so much variety in content, too. One of these would be my Desert Island album!

Daryll-Ann's Happy Traum is another one I can stick on at any time and still marvel at every note of it. Befriended by The Innocence Mission is as perfect an album from start to finish as I think I'll ever find, but I still rate the imperfections of Kenickie's At The Club and Tanya Donelly's Lovesongs For Underdogs higher!

And I can't leave the first album I ever owned off this list. Step forward Paula Abdul and Forever Your Girl! I don't think I'll ever forget any of the words to this. Every time I listen to this, it's like being 8 all over again!

What are your treasured albums?

Some great choices there! Can't believe I managed to miss this thread till now

My favourite albums of all would have to be: The Queen Is Dead and Hatful of Hollow by The Smiths, Crowded House's Woodface, Divine Madness, Daryll-Ann's Happy Traum (again), Shape by Frente, The Go-Betweens 1978-90, The Kinks Ultimate Collection, The Jam's Greatest Hits, The Beatles' Red and Blue albums, and Now That's What I Call Music 7!

I find it much too difficult to name my all-time favourite albums. My all-time favourite songs though is a different matter - I can name those at the drop of a hat:

1. New Order - In A Lonely Place
2. P.S.I - E.B.E-1
3. Bent - Give Us A Bumble

But that isn't the question being asked here, is it?

I'll try and return with a shortlist of fave albums soon.

That's interesting, GHG. My favourite songs change from day to day but my albums stay fairly constant. I could probably give you a different list of favourite songs every single day! (Today the list would be topped by Norman And Narcissus by Trixie's Big Red Motorbike :D )

I listened to Joni Mitchell's Court And Spark while I was doing the ironing today and it was brilliant! I'd forgotten quite how good it is. Better than Ladies Of The Canyon...
