Hi Franco. Ahh, that's a surprise - I wasn't expecting this series to be on terrestrial TV! I've not watched a new series of GH for years & years now but I'll try and catch this one at some point seeing as it's the final one ever. It's the end of an era!

Unless they bring it back in a few years like they did Doctor Who.

Hi Savage Sounds,
That is one thing that I really really hope does happen one day in future years. Though i'm not convinced of it though.

As I said on a long thread elsewhere, before it was announced that the show was winding up, there's no reason why the younger-audience version wouldn't be immensely succesful in its new genre, forcing a rethink about cancelling GH. I don't think though that any of us will like the new format.

I hear they have brought back the chicken man theme tune for the final series!

I also hear that the new series is a load of rubbish. Kids these days have it tough tv wise. No wonder they apparently spend all day being criminals and sat in front of computers or something.

I'm yet to see the last two episodes, but the first two weren't that bad. Compared to the classic years (anything before 1990) it's utter rubbish, sadly.

Thoroughly enjoying the series. All one off stories. Really pleased the original theme tune has returned.

What does everyone think of the last series so far? I still need to catch up on the last 3 eps, but I've loved every episode. Far batter than some efforts from the past.

I watch them, and kind of dismiss from my mind the good stuff of the past, the great ironic moments, such as Leah realizing her mother is seeing Malachay (and that's why her phone number was on his palmtop), the long powerful story arcs, such as Danny Kendall and Bronson, or Alec and Wayne, the moments of great sadness so beautifully handled, such as Amy's mother's death, the great comic moments that weren't merely slapstick - Martin wearing a bra, Togger's lines to Tanya, just as Tucker's were to Trisha - "What's happened to your face?" "I took it out" (meaning a lip piercing) "I didn't mean that!". There's just a huge amount of fun to be had out of all 31 series all told.

But it's not all bad this current and last series - the moments with Tigger/Chloe/Lucy/Jenny are good, it's nice to see Kathy still there, but oh for another three teachers and a headmaster to make the school real. Oh for some scenes outside school, some continuity across the series. Grange Hill Juniors they should have called this, and it carried on with the old series in the way it was in Series 28, because even series 29 and 30 went down a dead-end somehow, dumbed down, and the sense of it being a school lost.

Still, I liked the episde in this series with the old codger, the one where Chloe gets tarred and feathered, the bridge building one.

True Geffers, I had forgot about Malarchy and Leah's Mum (where has 5 years ggone, since this storyline!?). I can not really accept Series 31 as the Grange Hill I know but I could never dis-own it like a true Football fan could'nt his or her Football club. Strange as it is in a way, I can not put my finger on why but Series 31 is like a sort ofmixed version of Series 26 (that I can't describe). Series 26 easily can qualify as the worst ever I think as can Series 16.

The final episode is on tommorow night with Tucker coming back again.

Well done to the bbc and Phil Redmond for screwing up and killing one of the greatest childrens shows ever. It could have gone on forever and still be one of the most important shows on the box if they hadn't messed up so badly.

Sadly I think they're going to spoil one of the best series for many years with an unexploded bomb storyline

Where did i all go wrong Mr Savage? Moving them out London?

A rather low key ending for a great series (compared to Phil Redmond standards at least). Great to see Tucker. I was surprised we didn't get a flashback or something.

I was surprised there was no Kathy. She was the longest running character still in the show. Oh well., and end of an era!
