Having not seen anything since about Series 29, I tuned in today especially for the last hurrah.

Put simply, it was rubbish.

My expectations weren't high, but still, it's such a shame. I did, however, enjoy Togger's final act of mischief at the very end: Turning round the directional arrow on the 'New Year 7's - This Way' sign.

For me, that one, reoccurring GH prank alone was worth more than anything else in the entire episode.

Does anybody know what song was playing in the minutes before the credits rolled?

When Tucker was talking about how much Grange Hill has changed since he was last there, I thought, 'you're not kidding, it was in London when you went'

Where did i all go wrong Mr Savage? Moving them out London?

I just think somebody in the bbc tried to make a name for themselves by getting rid of it. They started by stripping it of everything that gave it its identity, stopped promoting it, even though it is one of their more famous "brands", and let it die with no one watching. Generations have grown up watching it and fondly remember it. They really dropped a clanger in my opinion. Expect them to do the same thing with Blue Peter soon.

People that say it is no longer relevant and that kids these days don't watch it are missing the point entirely. It is no longer relevant because the people who made it recently, for whatever reason, could no longer focus on what life is like for young people in this country. Hence the reason kids haven't been watching.

I read a quote from Lee Macdonald saying "if you tried to show what goes on in London comps now it would have to go out after the watershed".

I beg to differ:

1) Hollyoaks has dealt with violence, drug addiction, eating disorders etc, (but is still rubbish) and that is on at 6pm and is popular with the youth!

2) How come the 80s Grange Hill managed to deal with heroin addiction, bullying and death yet managed to be shown as part of children's televison? If somebody gets stabbed you don't have to show it in graphic detail, if somebody is being sexually abused you don't have to be pornographic about it. You can deal with these issues in a realistic, sensitive way. The only thing you can't show in family time is the swearing. Now you can't tell me that there was no swearing in schools in the 70s and 80s Britain cos there was, so 70s and 80s Grange Hill was not a 100% accurate representation, but it was still pretty flipping good.

Heres hoping in a few years a Doctor Who style, back to basics revival will take place in a slot that can appeal to young uns, nostalgia freaks and people who like good drama (Skins, the show we are always being told the youth watch also has a large following of wrinklies too) with people who know what they are doing creating it. Until then the verdict is this: the BBC bottled it.

Yep, I do :D

It's Sigur Ros...pretty sure it's this song: "Hljomalind"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0LOIgmIb80

I've got a couple of their CDs but not that one yet. Their music is great, very emotive, especially for movie/TV soundtracks...I like the one that's in Vanilla Sky too.

I didn't think the last GH episode was too bad...well, I liked the ending anyway, especially with Tucker having the last words, and the music was a good choice.
I thought it was quite moving, but I'm very sentimental anyway

So the last episode... quite good considering the dire state of the series at this point. On the plus side, the final series was shown without voiceovers on the credits, and with the old music - I don't know though, I quite liked the later music.

It was quite good to see Tucker come back, he kind of tops and tails the entire series.

On the other GH forum, I've completed a few more stories... I won't twist your arm though to read them.

I cought the last episode on BBc iplayer. I'd not watched a Liverpool episode since the lad (think his name was Alex?) tried to drown himself in the school pool.

I didn't really like the last episode, especially the "pop up video" sound effect between scenes. :? It was to much like kids TV rather than a drama with kids as the central characters, to me. :|

I shall remember GH as it was for the first 10 series or so. Flipping good TV regardless of the viewers age.
I'm not David Mitchell's Mom. I'd just like to adopt him. Nooo not David Mitchell the comedian. Little David Mitchell from Grange Hill Series Three!

I've been watching quite a bit of Australian comedy of late & I was surprised to see the guy who used to play Mr Brisley in GH throughout the 90s popping up in Mick Molloy's latest series The Jesters. Brisleyman plays the producer of the comedy show that the series revolves around. Here are links to the first couple of episode downloads, anyway, in case any of you fancy having a squiz! It's dead good actually and well worth the effort.

It feels a lot more than just over a year ago that Grange Hill ended. Very strange. Must get some more copies of series from the 90's to watch again...any one?
