I was totally expecting it. Tennant has grown larger than the role (if possible) so of course he'll want to go off and further his career. The best of luck to him I say.

Oh no, I'm pretty sure one of us actually is Andrew LLoyd Webber in disguise, and now you've given him the idea!

As the Doctor is regenerating how about: "10 years younger" as the Doctor appears to get 10 years younger (or the actors do anyway) at each regeneration. Don't blame me, but Mrs. Head for that one.

What did you all make of last night's ep? Typical Russell T Davies fare I thought. Too much sentimentality and a predictable overreliance on the Cybermen (it always seems to be either them or the Daleks nowadays - a bit like how ITV always seem to show either Manchester United or Liverpool when showing live football!). Dervla Kirwan was good though, and the idea of a Victorian "Doctor" was clever too. I thought the episode was all a bit underwhelming overall though, and the ending was a real damp squib.

I missed the ending due to a relative ringing up  but I wasn't overly impressed. Kirwan was doing her best Fiona Shaw impression, but there was no real fear involved in the episode. David Morrissey was very good, I thought, but the story was flawed. Basically a good idea but poorly written and wrong choice of villains, for me. I hope the specials will be better tham this.

....and disapointed indeed I was with the Christmas special :(

It was more like a panto than a Doctor Who special  What a waste of talent!

The only parts I actually thought interesting were seing the line of Dr regenerations (including Paul Mc Gann), The 'Victorian' Doctor's TARDIS being a hot air baloon (made me laugh that) and when the Doctor opened the watch and the insides fell out (he suspecting it held his/the new/old doctors Time Lord ummm real memory/whatever makes him the doctor  You know what I mean. That made me laugh too. Otherwise much of a bore :? Even 'Confidential' and the five best Christmas specials (care of BBC3) were boring :?

Lets hope the five specials are up to scratch

I thought it was a typical RTD Doctor WHO story.

It was ok until the stupid rise of that "Cyberman King". I guess the Cybermen have watched King Kong, only they didn't have the money to make that giant thing (how deep is the Thames anyway) climb up a building with Rosetta.

Got bored after the four blokes were turned in Cyber controlled idiots.

I'm not surprised Tennant has quit

Still I've been watching a few classic adventures lately to make up for it.

So the new Doctor is a pip squeak who learnt to wipe his own arse last week and has appeared as an extra in some unknown show or another, plus some stage plays. Not a very popular choice. I was already getting bored with the new series, and now I'm going to stick with the classics after the final Tennant episodes. Good grief :sus:

Well it's going to depend on the stories too - and we do have the Moffatmeister in control now... Perhaps they can age him with makeup!

When you look at Tennant's first apperance, he does seem enormously young. We'll have to see - the Doctor Who Prom showed enormous amounts of kids who evidently love the show in its current format, and that does my heart good to see.

I'm quite intrigued by the new choice, actually. I'm glad they went for a relative unknown, although I would have preferred they went older rather than younger. But I think it could prove interesting to write reactions to someone looking so young yet knowing so much and clearly being best qualified to be in control of situations, as long as Matt Smith can pull it off.
I'll wait until I see him in action before I start ranting!

I must confess when I heard who was going to be the new Who, I initially thought they meant the ITV football bloke!
