Cheesy 70s pop...

Can you hear it pumping on your stereo?

Cheesy 70s pop...

Postby Hughesy on Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:19 pm

...don'tcha just love it?! I've just spent an enjoyable hour or so watching videos from the likes of The Dooleys, Clout & Showaddywaddy over on YouTube. Music that's basically the earliest contemporary pop music I can remember from when I were a nipper. Oh and this clip of Racey performing Lay All Your Love On Me is an absolute hoot!

I love the 'related videos' section over there too. I'm discovering loads of cheesy gems I'd not heard before! How about you, what are your 70s faves? Post 'em here!

And your funky chicken

I must confess to being slightly addicted to watching that clip! Should I be worried? The song's dead catchy too.

Anyway, as a result of my dip in to all things 1970s on YouTube the other night I've now taken to buying up loads of old vinyl pop compilation albums from charity shops (six for a quid in my local Y.M.C.A. shop) and ripping the tracks that especially catch my ear on to mp3 afterwards. There's so many great old tracks that we never get to hear on 70s and 80s compilations that are released nowadays! Like the frankly jaw-dropping You've Got To Be A Hustler by Sue Wilkinson, which I discovered on a Ronco LP from 1980 this evening. Have a Frank Butcher's at this!:

This is great! It's ABBA, Olivia Newton John and Andy Gibb jamming on some 70s TV programme:
