Celebrity Big Brother

Postby Hughesy on Fri Jan 02, 2009 6:49 pm

Those of a sensitive disposition may wish to look away now: Celebrity Big Brother's back! Yes, after a Jade Goody-induced two-year hiatus, Endemol bosses have deemed it safe enough to try another series of the celeb version. Which starts, obviously, tonight. So then, are we all excited by the prospect? I've seen the provisional line-up and it doesn't look all that promising. Still though, I dare say I'll end up getting at least a bit hooked.

I watched it last night, I think theres potential for a bit of a young/old or north south divide in there.

What was that crowd all about booing people who were going in before they even knew who they are? What sort of person travels to Herfordshire in Christmas week to boo a load of d list celebrities (who they will probably be buying heat magazine to read all about).

I think I like Terry Christian, despite him being miserable and bitter, (and a Man U fan, atleast he is from Manchester) he is pretty funny and a good wind up merchant. Who remembers his standard question that he would use on every northerner that he interviewed on the word?

Watched them all go in tonight on E4 Catch up. I'm really not bothered about seeing anymore. Verne Troyer can win for me, simply because I've heard of him.

Not me (although I did used to watch it).

My first reaction to this bunch of slebs was that they were a pretty underwhelming lot. But now I've decided I like this show because - unlike the regular BB - half the housemates aren't 19 or 20. The great thing about CBB is that the "young" ones in there are about 25, and the average age is probably closer to 40. So you don't get smug little turds sanctimoniously criticising the behaviour of their elders by starting every other sentence with the phrase "You're a 36-year-old man!" in admonishing tones just because the "oldie" is singing to themself in the shower/having an argument/acting like a bit of a div. Yet these kids excuse their own daft behaviour by saying "I'm only young". Here's a newsflash for you "kids": you're grown-ups as well, even if you did only start shaving two years ago. Cretins!

Mind you, that Carole(?), the Liverpudlian woman, is an annoying old boot isn't she? For god's sake, stop swearing all the time - you're a 50-year-old woman!

It was "did you have a typical Northern upbringing? Did your brother kill your pet kestrel?"

I don't really have a problem with any of the contestants yet, Ulrika Johnson used to do my head in when she was on Gladiators but I dunno, maybe I am mellowing in my old age!

Do you know, even as I was slagging Tina off in that previous message I was thinking "Hmm, should I be doing this? Albert Toaster probably knows her in real life!"

Cor, that Mutya's singing was a bit tasty in that talent contest thing last night wasn't it? Really put those muppets from Liberty X & A1 to shame! I felt a bit sorry for the topless model, though, as that task was obviously designed to stitch her up - her "talents" not really being the sort of thing you could showcase on such a show (well, not unless someone invents a programme called The XXX Factor!).

Well I doubt channel four would have minded if Lucy had wacked em out. They are probably a little bit annoyed that they have paid her all that moolah and that she isnt a typical Dannielle Lloyd/Jordan style glamour girl. She actually comes across as a normal girl who got lucky in the looks and body stakes and decided to cash in while she was still young.

What about Tommy demonstrating what he was famous for? A scathing attack on the outgoing Bush administration! Wow! That will move mountains! Somebody should tell him that Obama won and that it isnt 2006 anymore! Who is next in his sights? The corrupt Nixon regime? Gerald Ford? Ronnie R and his Reganomics? In truth if he was going to demonstrate why he is famous he should have brought up the News Of The World libel case he was involved with, thats what brought him to prominence!

Rubbish claim to fame time: I have seen Mutya sing live at the Northampton Balloon festival, once saw Lucy Pinder in a night club and somebody I once nearly bought a flat off used to go to WWF wrestling events with Ben from A1! I'm holding out for the highest fee I can from the tabloids!

Yes, I was very impressed with her performance as well. Mut-ya certainly can sing!

I'm enjoying the fact that, unlike normal Big Brother, this house isn't filled with youngsters trying to cop off with each other from the point in the house covered with most cameras!
The imitating each other task tonight seperated the bunch with distinguishable personalities from those with none - it took me ages to work out who Ben and Ulrika were trying to be (each other) since they had nothing to hang an impersonation on! Tommy and Verne excelled as LaToya and Coolio, and I was pleased to see the model show a sense of humour during this, after the talent task which was obviously a stitch up.

What is it with Big Brother and annoying, self-obsessed Geordie women with dark hair? First there was bunny-boiler Michelle from BB6, then the godawful Jennifer "Monet" last summer, and now it's that whiny thing from Liberty X. Literally another Michelle! Gawd help us

Not sure why rock on Tommy was fretting so much tonight about that dance with her, mind. Get a grip, man! Not even those fiendishly devious BB editors are tricky enough to be able to portray a bit of harmless dad-dancing-with-bridesmaid-at-offspring's-wedding style bopping as a full blown affair!

A decent highlights show all the same. Loved Terry Christian's taxi rides in the back of Verne's shopmobility buggy! (they want to be careful though - I mean, it might get edited to look like they're having an affair or sommat  )

So Lucy got the boot tonight then. What a nice girl though! Who'd have thought a Tory-voting page three stunna could be so well-rounded (matron). Just shows you can never judge a book by its cover (unlike the Daily Star ).

I've not seen much so far.

Caught the talent contest. Considering the singers usually sing with a group or backing singers, so don't ususlly sing all of their song, I thought it wasn't too bad. I think the Romeo and Juliet scene for Tina and Vern was to try and make them look silly, but, they pulled it off with dignity I thought. I felt sorry for poor Lucy, she looked so uncomfortable. The mute came on for Tommy's stint. Yawn. Yawn. Yawn.

Nearly every other time I've looked in Tina has ben talking about Coolio  and I had a quick look last night to see Terry smoking a ciggie in total quiet but BB found it nessessary to bring in the birdie sounds  I did laugh though. Terry was obviously making a noise smoking that could be subject to libel or might be thought of as offensive.
I'm not David Mitchell's Mom. I'd just like to adopt him. Nooo not David Mitchell the comedian. Little David Mitchell from Grange Hill Series Three!

Is it more like the character she plays in Shameles? I've not dared to watch it.

I honestly don't care who leaves tonight tbh. Muyta is boring, Michelle and Ulrika just cry and Tina contradicts herself every five minutes.

Get them all out, along with Terry!

Ben or Verne or La Toya to win!
